Pastor - The Rev. Todd McCoy

Todd was born in Hampton, Virginia and grew up in the mountains of North Carolina. Before entering the ministry, he earned a Bachelor of Science degree in History/Government Service at Appalachian State University in Boone, NC. He worked for a number of years as a Real Estate Appraiser before answering God’s call to ministry in 2000. Todd enrolled at Union Theological Seminary and Presbyterian School of Christian Education in Richmond, VA, graduating in 2003 with a Master of Divinity. In March of 2004 he was ordained and installed as pastor of Louisa Presbyterian Church.

Todd met his wife, Xen, in 1993 while they both were working for the same real estate company. Xen was born in Florida and grew up in Arizona before moving to North Carolina. Todd and Xen were married in 1994 and have two sons, Collin (1999) and Forrest (2006).

Choir Director - Virginia ("Burchie") Carroll

Joining us last autumn, Burchie directs and accompanies our adult choir.  Burchie grew up in Louisa County, and attended local schools.  She graduated from Westhampton College in Richmond with a degree in Piano Performance.  Later she attended Louisville Baptist Theological Seminary where she earned her Master's Degree in Piano Performance.  She has been active in Baptist congregations and conferences throughout her career.  Burchie also accompanies the local Louisa Community Chorus and Chorale.

Administrative Assistant - Peggy Downs

Peggy and her husband Peter moved from Virginia Beach to Lake Anna in 1997, and she joined Louisa Presbyterian Church in October 1999.  Since then, she was ordained as an elder (2001), became Clerk of Session (2004-present), works as our Administrative Assistant (since 2005), and currently serves on the Nurture Committee and Worship Committee.

Our Ministry Team 

Our church has six areas of Christian Ministry: Worship, Christian Nurture, Mission and Outreach, Fellowship, Building and Grounds, and Finance.  The heads of these ministries (Elders) comprise our Session.

Worship ministry

Worship committee and Elder of Worship provide for the observance of worship on a weekly basis and during special occasions such as seasons of the church year, weddings and funerals.

Christian Nurture

Christian Nurture seeks to provide the proper nurture, training and education of members in the Christian Faith. It is responsible for providing regular Bible study, Sunday School schedule and curriculum, and the summer day camp.

Fellowship

Fellowship provides opportunities for members to enjoy one another’s company and events to which members can invite friends and neighbors.

Mission and Outreach

Mission and Outreach assists the congregation in meeting the physical and spiritual needs within our congregation and community, the region and around the world.

Building and Grounds

Building and Grounds ministry provides for the management and maintenance of the church properties including the church building, its adjoining properties and the manse.

Finance

Finance ministry encourages members to give generously to the ministry and mission of the church and offers leadership for the proper stewardship of the church's finances by establishing the annual budget, providing for an annual audit and raising funds for special events and offerings.
