Congregational Meeting - Sunday, Sept. 5

Please join us immediately after worship on Sunday, September 5th for a congregational meeting to elect two elders to serve on the 2011-2013 session.  We will also elect the 2011 elder nominating committee.

Rally Day - Sunday, Sept. 12

This year's Rally Day is a special event that will wrap up our 1 1/2 years of discerning the future mission and ministries of Louisa Presbyterian.  We are going to have a completely different type of worship service that will be centered around the work of the Visioning Team, who have put together all the information you have provided through the survey and the small groups during the Weekend of Faith.  Following the presentation, there will be time for you to share your thoughts and provide the team with any final input or ideas.  Also on Rally Day, the scored Spiritual Gifts' assessments will be returned to those who participated, and you will hear about future plans for our Sunday School ministry.  Please be sure to come for this very important event!

Lending Library

If you like curling up to read a good book, please visit LPC's Lending Library to borrow one from our collection. If you especially like a book that you've read from our reading corner, please consider writing a short review for an upcoming newsletter. The editor would appreciate including your review for future editions of "The Good News," and your fellow readers would appreciate a recommendation on what to read!

Food Gathering

Since there is an extreme need of food for the people in our community who are having a hard time making ends meet because of job loss or other reasons beyond their control, we are asking the congregation to bring food with them on any Sunday, and we will see that the food gets delivered to where it is needed the most.  Once a month, we will have the children bring the food forward during the Time for Young Disciples, and we will have a prayer that the food will bless someone in need.  Please give generously and often!

We are always looking for volunteers to assist with our various needs:

• donating sanctuary flowers
• preparing the communion table
• leading worship (lay reader)
• providing fellowship snacks for coffee hour
• assisting with nursery/childcare
• leading  "time for young disciples" during worship
• helping with building/grounds projects

 Please check the bulletin board in the Sunday School to find out available dates.

Fellowship Opportunities

Movie Night - This month's movie night will be held on Friday, September 17th with potluck dinner at 6:00 p.m. and the movie ("Star Wars III") at 7:00 p.m.

Dinner Invitation - The Durrwachters are inviting 12 persons to a "Salamagundy Dinner" in their home on Saturday, September 18th.  Space is limited, so please sign up on the bulletin board.  Come for some fun!
